What is a sworn translation?
Some documents are so important that they must be translated correctly and completely, and only professionally qualified translators are authorized to do so. Due to the particularly high quality requirements, only translators who meet the requirements set by the courts are authorized to do this. They are authorized to certify the accuracy and completeness of translations with their signature and official stamp. Sworn translations are required by courts, government agencies, and colleges/universities for birth, marriage, and death certificates, certificates of no impediment to marriage, court documents, certificates, and diplomas, but also in the context of international business for the translation of contracts or commercial register extracts.
Sworn translations are valid throughout Germany and in other EU countries, regardless of the federal state (Land) in which they were issued.
Legally binding documents
Sworn translations
Sworn translations are required if a foreign-language document is to be legally enforceable in Germany. As a certified translator for English and French authorized by the Higher Regional Court of Hamm, I issue sworn translations of any official documents that need to be recognized by German authorities or institutions.
