  • Price per line starting at EUR 1.30 *
    The calculation is based on the standard lines of the target text (one standard line comprises 55 characters including spaces). The number of characters in the target text is determined after completion of the translation.

  • Certification fee: EUR 10.00 *
    The fee is charged per stamp.

  • Minimum price EUR 50.00 *
    For certified translations, the certification fee is included in the minimum price.

  • The prices quoted are net prices, plus VAT where applicable.

Factors influencing the price

The hallmarks of a professional translation are high linguistic quality and accurate rendering of the content using the appropriate technical vocabulary at a fair price. Various components are taken into account when calculating the price:

  • Difficulty of the text

    Legal texts require extensive research into specialist vocabulary and subject matter.
    Due to differences in legal systems, some terms will not have an equivalent in the target language. In such cases, additional explanations in the form of notes are necessary.

  • Qualification and experience of the certified specialist translator

    Technical translations require comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter and linguistic expertise in both the source and the target language. This includes linguistic expertise in text type, text intention, and terminology.
    In the case of certified translations, I guarantee correctness and completeness by signing and stamping the document with my court-approved stamp as a sworn specialist translator.

  • Formatting
    Certificates and diplomas vary greatly in structure and are generally issued in a non-editable format. For a certified translation, they must be reproduced as closely as possible to the original in terms of structure and form. This often involves considerable formatting work and recreating elements of the original. Seals and stamps appearing on the original are also transferred to the target language and included in the word count.

  • Urgent orders

    I always strive to complete all orders as quickly as possible. However, in cases of particular urgency, I am forced to put other orders on hold and offer these customers a discount. I therefore charge a 20% surcharge for urgent translation orders.

  • JVEG – the German Act on the Remuneration and Compensation Scale for Experts required in Court and Witnesses

    Since 2004, the remuneration and compensation of experts, witnesses, interpreters, and translators has been regulated by the Judicial Remuneration and Compensation Act (JVEG). The JVEG applies mandatorily to every assignment by the court, the public prosecutor’s office, the tax authorities (if they are conducting their own investigations), the administrative authorities (in misdemeanor proceedings), or the bailiff, and to all types of experts (§1). In the case of an assignment by other authorities, in particular administrative authorities not listed in section 1, the JVEG is only applicable if the individual authority is obliged to apply it on the basis of statutory provisions.

  • No direct communication: Communication is handled exclusively through the agency, which can lead to misunderstandings or delays. Queries and change requests must be passed on via third parties, which is cumbersome.
